The Chief Executive of DocGo, Anthony Capone, has resigned from his position for personal reasons, according to a regulatory filing on Friday. The company announced that President and Chief Operating Officer Lee Bienstock will take over as the interim CEO.
False Information Uncovered
In a recent report by the Times-Union, it was revealed that Capone’s professional biography on the company’s website contained false information. Capone had falsely claimed to have received a graduate degree in artificial intelligence from Clarkson University. Following the report, Capone admitted to the wrongdoing.
Controversy Surrounding $432 Million Contract
Alongside the scandal surrounding Capone, DocGo has faced intense scrutiny due to its $432 million contract with New York City to provide services to asylum seekers. New York City Comptroller Brad Lander raised concerns about the company’s ability to meet the obligations outlined in the contract. As a result, Lander declined to approve the contract.
Assurance of Payment
Despite the contract setback, DocGo reassured stakeholders and the public that they would still receive payment for the services they have provided. The company remains determined to fulfill its obligations despite the challenges it currently faces.
