European stocks decreased on Wednesday, with the Stoxx Europe 600 index closing down 0.32% to 453.94.
Individual Stock Performances
The French CAC 40 index weakened 0.42% to 7,222.57, the German DAX weakened 0.39% to 15,654.03, and the FTSE 100 index remained flat at 7,525.99.
Among the constituents of the Stoxx Europe 600, retail company THG PLC saw the largest drop as shares fell by 4.9%.
Shares of healthcare/life sciences firm Bayer AG and retail company Ocado Group PLC weakened by 4.6% and 4.1%, respectively.
Alstom S.A., a road/rail transport company, and real estate investment trusts firm alstria office REIT-AG rounded out the top five largest decreases with their stocks falling by 3.9% and 3.6%, respectively.
On the other hand, real estate company Aroundtown S.A. saw the largest increase among the Stoxx Europe 600 constituents, with shares adding 7.6% on Wednesday.
Shares of industrial goods firm Vestas Wind Systems A/S and insurance company Aviva PLC gained by 5.3% and 4.6%, respectively.
Melrose Industries PLC, a real estate/construction company, and real estate/construction company Persimmon PLC rounded out the top five largest increases as their stocks increased by 4.6% and 4.0%, respectively.
Currency and Commodity Movements
The pound was down 0.04% against the dollar, while the euro fell by 0.19% against the dollar.
Brent crude rose by 0.08% to $92.13.
The yield on the 10-year gilt declined by 6.91 basis points to 4.345%, and the yield on the German 10-year bund increased by 0.780 basis points to 2.65%.
