European stocks ended the week on a positive note, with the Stoxx Europe 600 index growing by 0.23% to reach 461.93.
Market Performance
The French CAC 40 index gained 0.96% to close at 7,378.82, while the German DAX and the FTSE 100 also experienced gains of 0.56% and 0.50% respectively.
Top Performers
Among the top-performing stocks in the Stoxx Europe 600 index, leisure/travel goods company Games Workshop Group PLC saw the largest increase on Friday, with shares surging 10.6%. Health care/life sciences firm Orpea S.A. and machinery company Tomra Systems ASA also saw significant gains of 5.5% and 4.2%, respectively.
Other Significant Movers
MorphoSys AG, a health care/life sciences company, and real estate/construction firm Skanska AB Series B rounded out the top five largest increases, with their stocks gaining 3.8% and 3.7%, respectively.
On the other hand, retail company H&M Hennes & Mauritz AB Series B experienced the largest decline among Stoxx Europe 600 constituents, with shares declining by 7.4% on Friday. Technology firms ASM International N.V. and Sinch AB also saw notable declines of 6.6% and 6.5%, respectively.
Top Decreases
BE Semiconductor Industries N.V., a technology company, and real estate investment trusts company alstria office REIT-AG rounded out the top five largest decreases, with their stocks falling by 4.8% and 4.6%, respectively.
Currency and Commodity Movements
The pound was down by 0.13% against the dollar, while the euro increased by 0.30%. Brent crude increased by 0.10% to $93.79.
Bond Yields
The yield on the 10-year gilt rose by 7.92 basis points to 4.362%, and the yield on the German 10-year bund increased by 8.390 basis points to 2.68%.
