GoviEx has ambitious plans to become a significant uranium producer. The company is currently focused on the development of its flagship Madaouela project in Niger. Additionally, it operates the mine-permitted Mutanga project in Zambia and Falea project in Mali.
Coup Attempt Shakes the Nation
Late on Wednesday, a group of military officers claimed to have seized power and ousted President Mohamed Bazoum, who was elected in 2021. The announcement made by the coup leaders on Niger state television indicates that the rebellion, which began in the early hours of Wednesday, has gained significant traction. Prior to this, disgruntled presidential guards had rebelled against Bazoum, surrounding his residence.
