President Joe Biden lightened the mood during an event in Maine as he discussed the decreasing inflation and his recently signed executive order called “Invent It Here, Make It Here.” While giving a speech at Auburn Manufacturing Inc., a textile company, Biden playfully remarked, “Earlier this week, the Washington Post suggested Republicans may have to find something else to criticize me for, now that inflation is coming down. Maybe they’ll decide to impeach me because it’s coming down. I don’t know. I love that one.”
The comment from President Biden comes in response to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s remarks about potential impeachment inquiries regarding the Biden family’s financial affairs. McCarthy, a California Republican, stated that these inquiries will “rise to an impeachment inquiry.” Despite this, Republicans have continued to criticize Biden for the rise in prices across the country.
Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel expressed concerns over the impact of Bidenomics on families: “Families in Maine and across the country simply cannot afford Bidenomics. Real wages are in fact down, costs are indeed up, and voters are counting down the days until they can send Biden back to Delaware for good.”
President Biden is leveraging his policies for the manufacturing sector and the overall U.S. economy as the 2024 political campaigns begin to gain momentum. In line with this, he signed a new executive order that encourages companies to manufacture their inventions within the United States. The order places a priority on domestic manufacturing, especially for inventions funded by federal agencies. Biden explained, “This executive order dictates that those agencies have to prioritize domestic manufacturing when it comes time to bring those inventions to market. They can’t go abroad. They have to look here — who can do it here.”
