British officials confirmed Tuesday that Kate, the Princess of Wales, will attend the Trooping the Color ceremony in June. This will be her first major official duty since undergoing abdominal surgery earlier this year.
Return to Public Eye
Prince William’s wife, Kate, has been absent from public view since January when she was admitted to a private London hospital for planned surgery. Palace officials had previously announced her temporary withdrawal from public duties until after Easter.
Pomp-Filled Celebration
The Trooping the Color ceremony is scheduled for June 8 and the subsequent weekend. This annual event, a cherished tradition in the royal calendar for over 260 years, features birthday parades filled with grandeur to honor the reigning monarch. The festivities typically attract large crowds who gather to witness the spectacle.
Inspection at Horse Guards
During the ceremony on June 8, Kate, 42, will inspect soldiers on parade at central London’s Horse Guards alongside hundreds of foot guards, horse guards, and military band members. The procession will travel along The Mall, the iconic promenade outside Buckingham Palace.
Health Challenges
The royal family has been in the spotlight recently as both Kate and King Charles III have faced health issues that restricted their public engagements. Charles is currently undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, which was detected during the treatment of an enlarged prostate.
Kate was discharged from the hospital on Jan. 29 after a two-week stay for her undisclosed condition. Palace officials have emphasized her desire for privacy regarding personal medical matters.
